Colette Aliman is a creative researcher working within the fields of Art and Creative Research. In 2019, she launched the platform: Sound-Office to explore the soundscapes that we and other species find ourselves in as a result of the industrial revolution.
Colette finds sound knowledge a methodology to help understand perplexing questiongs society engages with daily into installations and sound art. Her topics of interest and research include multi-species-culture(s) sonic intersections, raising awareness of citizen’s imagination and choice in societies soundscapes, and speculative R&D in the future of the post industrial revolution soundscapes.

SHIFT EP ×These limited edition album objects were revealed from a melted glacier. Each includes a disc with a download code and a small publication as documentation of the conversations Colette had with ice sheet modeller Tim van den Akker during their 9-month fellowship at Foundation We Are. SHIFT is an electroacoustic EP created by sound artist Colette Aliman and climate change modeller Tim van den Akker. It explores Antarctica’s future through the sonification of Tim’s ice sheet models, projecting up to 1,000 years ahead. Using custom-built tools in Pure Data, climate data is transformed into sound, blending oscillators and field recordings. Half the album features data-driven sound, while the other half presents Colette’s soundscapes with sampled lyrics reflecting on a rapidly changing Earth. Tracklist: Thickness - 3’15 |
